Regulations and Awards LAKFF 2019

Submission period for LAKFF is every year from 1st of July to 1st of November.

1. The G-A-S Competition is open only for short films from Germany, Austria and Switzerland in German language. In this category three prizes will be awarded.

BMW Grand Prix: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 5.000 Euro
Audience Award: the trophy money is 2.000 Euro
Best Comedy: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 500 Euro

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

2. The International Competition is open for short films from anywhere in the world. In this category two prizes will be awarded.

Best Short Film: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 1.000 Euro
Audience Award: the trophy money is 1.000 Euro

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

3. The Deadline_Award is open to genre short films from anywhere in the world. It is a special award for an outstanding international Horror, Mystery, Fantasy, Science Fiction or Thriller Short Film.

The trophy money is 1.000 Euro and is awarded by a jury.
In this category there is also an Audience Award; the trophy money is 300 Euro.

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

4. The Animation Competition is open to animated short films from anywhere in the world. It is a special award for an outstanding international animation short film.

The trophy money is 750 Euro and is awarded by a jury.

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

5. The Short Documentary Competition is open for short documentary films from anywhere in the world.

The trophy money is 1.000 Euro and is awarded by a jury.

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

6. The VR Competition is open for short Virtual Reality films from anywhere in the world.

The trophy money is 500 Euro and is awarded by a jury.

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

7. The Shorts for Kids Competition is open for short films for children made in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.

The trophy money is 500 Euro and is awarded by the audience.

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

8. The Innovation Award will be presented for all programs of the festival. It is a jury prize and elected by all jury members of the festival. The Innovation Award is dedicated for a particularly exceptional, innovative film. The trophy money is 1.500 Euro.

9. The DaHome Award is a special Jury award and is awarded to an international short film that deals with the subject of Heimat / homeland in a special and extraordinary way. The trophy money is 2.000 Euro.

10. Submission deadline is the 1st of November 2018.

12. We do not accept BluRays or DVDs as preview copies.

13. The screening formats at the Festival are: DCP, H264, Apple ProRes, BluRay (region free)

14. If the original version of the film is not in English or German language, the film has to be subtitled in English or German language.

15. Risk and cost of sending the screening copy to the festival have to be accepted by the sender. Screening copies sent in from other festivals have to be arranged by the sender. Cost for sending back screening copy to sender will be accepted by Dynamo Kurzfilm e.V.

16. All parcels from non-EU member states must be clearly marked with a customs declaration form stating the following: ”For cultural purposes only. No commercial value.” Parcels from non-EU member states must also be accompanied by an invoice stating a value of no more than 10 Euro. We will not accept screening copies which do not have paid the full postage.

17. Film copies are insured for their hardware value for the duration of the Festival. Compensation claims must be made within 10 days after the film has been returned. Court jurisdiction is in Landshut.

18. In submitting your film or video you guarantee that you have all the relevant permissions, licenses and releases for your film or video to be screened in a public exhibition. You must have in your possession the permissions, licenses and releases for the submitted film or video’s music, script, actors etc.

19. The organizer has the right to show clips of the submitted and selected film up to one minute in length to the websites of the festival and on TV as part of the festival coverage if this is not expressly revoked by the submitter.

20. If more films are submitted than can be shown in the festival programs, a preliminary jury will decide on the admission to the various programs and competitions. The decision of the preliminary jury is final. Entrants whose films are chosen for screening at the festival will be notified by January 2019.

21. A screening fee will not be paid.

22. Festival passes and travel allowance:

Participating filmmakers have the opportunity to obtain accreditation for free and receive up to three festival passes per accepted film. All other team members can be accredited for a fee of 30 €.

There is one travel allowance per accepted film. The amount is 100,- € for participants from Germany, 200,- € for participants from other European Countries & 300,- € for participants from the rest of the World. The maximum travel allowance is 200 € for films from Germany, 400 € from Europe and 600 € from the rest of the world. The travel allowance cannot be paid in cash but will be transferred to the registered person after the festival.

We cannot assume any costs for accommodation.

23. With the submission the sender agrees that his or her specifications will be stored and used in purpose of the Festival and accept the regulations of the Festival.

24. By submitting a film the submitter accepts all entry conditions and the privacy policy of the Landshut Short Film Festival.
